Bring Wikidata to your spreadsheets with an easy-to-use add-on!
Wikidata Reconciler is a tool for researchers, data journalists, librarians, and wiki-editors who need to enrich their datasets with structured data. Instead of switching apps to search wikidata.org or learn complex software, you can search and match entities right from a seamless sidebar in Google Sheets.
Core Features
- Instant entity matching: Select any cell containing a text query and search Wikidata directly from the sidebar.
- Smart data insertion: With a single click, automatically insert the correct Wikidata QID, labels, and descriptions into adjacent columns.
- Multi-language support: Configure the tool to fetch labels and descriptions in your preferred languages.
- Preserves your data: Safely inserts new columns for the retrieved data, ensuring your original search terms are never overwritten.
- Fast workflow: Built-in smart jump logic automatically moves you to the next empty row after a successful match, keeping your hands on the keyboard and speeding up manual reconciliation.
How to Use
- Open the add-on from the Extensions menu (Extensions > Wikidata Reconciler > Open sidebar).
- Click on a cell containing the data to match, for example the name of a person, place, or concept.
- Review the live search results in the sidebar.
- Click the correct entity to instantly map it to your spreadsheet.
Further Work
- Interface enhancements to make the process more intuitive.
- Connect to Eka Reconciliation app for rich media interfaces for reconciling.
